News for January 23, 2015

The Wired Word Adult Bible Fellowship Class will reflect on what Seattle Seahawks fans missed when they left the stadium before the conclusion of the NFL Championship Game last Sunday.  We’ll touch on the biblical themes of perseverance, faith and endurance during touch times.  (There might even be some discussion about deflated footballs and playing by the rules!)  Join us in Fellowship Hall at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday for coffee, scriptures and discussion.

We will have a Prayer Quilt this Sunday for Michael Steele, a seventeen year old who has shown up on our Prayer Chain many times during the past couple of years.

We have 15 Welcome A Neighbor Bags that are ready for distribution to new residents of our area.  Following the worship service, be sure and check to see if any of the new neighbors live close to you.

Following the worship service, please join us in Fellowship Hall for a time of light refreshments and conversation.  Sherry Hill and Pam Cook will be your hosts during the month of January.

Olga’s classical music CD went on sale last week after church.  It includes songs from Bach, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Samuel Barber.  The cost is $15.00.  She is donating a portion of each sale to the church.  They may be purchased from Olga or we do have a few to sell in the Church Office.

Our mission focus for the month of January is the Pregnancy Center of Greater Toledo.  Their goal is to lovingly share the truth about life, relationships and faith.  They help men and women make life-saving, life-changing decisions by sharing information about options, consequences and available services.  With the exception of a small amount of grant funding for abstinence education, all funds come from donations.  Over 32,000 women have already received help.  The Pregnancy Center continues to be a community outreach committed to expressing the compassion of Christ through support and education in pregnancy related issues. We can help keep the doors open!  Remember, this Sunday will be the Mission Jar coin collection!

Bill Plassmann has made DVDs and Blueray recordings of the 2014 Children’s Christmas Program from mid-December.  If you would like to have a copy, he asks that you make a donation to the Youth Group Mission Trip Fund.  These DVDs are located on the shelf outside the church office.

The Youth Alive Wish List has been taken care of with the exception of one item…they still are in need of cans of pop.  You may leave any donations in the youth room.

Theatre-for-the-World will take place on Friday, March 13th, Saturday, March 14th and Sunday, March 15th.  Friday and Saturday’s shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday show will start at 1:30 p.m.  This year’s production is FOOLS, a family-friendly comedy by Neil Simon.  Watch for a sign-up sheet to be posted soon on the bulletin board near the office for Volunteers to help with this endeavor. (Also, be sure and read the article about this year’s production in the February issue of The Ambassador when it is published next week.)

Stephanie Shelton has placed sign-up sheets on the bulletin board for reservations for the Youth Lasagna Dinner on the Saturday evening before the Theatre-for-the-World performance on March 14th.  She is also in need of lasagna makers and dessert bakers for that evening.

Construction has begun in Fellowship Hall this morning!  The framing is taking place along the back wall for the construction of a large storage area.  Carpenter Bob Ziegler and his helper are moving right along.
